passenger traffic — Passenger traffic has increased at Cyprus’ airports in Larnaca and Paphos amid the festive holiday period. On Boxing Day, Friday December 26, 65 international arrivals and 38 departures were scheduled at Larnaca International Airport, while Paphos International Airport saw 14 arrivals and 13 departures.
Data from Hermes Airports indicates that this surge is part of a broader upward trend throughout 2025. For the first 11 months of this year, Larnaca airport welcomed a total of 9,365,329 passengers, significantly surpassing the entire traffic recorded in 2024, which stood at 8,661,354. Paphos airport also experienced growth, with numbers reaching 3,640,954, compared to 3,633,990 for all of 2024.
The holiday season has notably driven this increase in passenger flow, leading to limited parking availability at Larnaca airport. In response to high demand, Hermes Airports has added an additional 500 parking spaces this year, bringing the total to 3,500. A representative from Hermes Airports commented on the situation, highlighting that demand is particularly high during Christmas.
To accommodate travellers, the company has urged passengers to reserve parking spaces online, ensuring they have a guaranteed spot upon arrival. Those unable to secure a space online are advised to explore alternative arrangements, emphasising the need for planning during this busy time.
