roadpol campaign — roadpol campaign — A week-long campaign focusing on bus and lorry driving will take place from Monday, November 17, to Sunday, November 23, 2025, as part of the European Traffic Police Network (Roadpol) initiative. This campaign marks the third time this year that member countries, including Cyprus, will join forces to enhance road safety.
The Cyprus Police, in collaboration with the Department of Road Transport (DRT), will conduct a series of checks during this week. These checks aim to ensure compliance with essential regulations pertaining to bus and lorry drivers. Officers will scrutinise various aspects of driving and vehicle management, including:
- Driver and vehicle documentation
- Vehicle speed
- Speed-limiting devices
- Driving and working hours
- Use of tachographs (both analogue and digital)
- The mechanical condition of vehicles
The campaign seeks to promote a culture of safety on the roads, particularly among commercial drivers who operate larger vehicles. By enforcing these checks, the authorities aim to reduce the occurrence of traffic violations that can lead to fatal and serious road collisions.
In their commitment to road safety, the police have declared a zero-tolerance policy towards violations that compromise the safety of all road users. They emphasise that road safety is a shared responsibility and encourage all drivers to adhere to the Highway Code and practice responsible road behaviour.
As the campaign approaches, the police will also engage in public outreach to raise awareness about the importance of compliance with traffic laws. The initiative reflects a broader effort by Roadpol to enhance safety across Europe, highlighting the significance of cooperative policing in tackling common road safety challenges.
