Popular state websites, such as Ariadne and Taxisnet, have also been rendered inaccessible, displaying error messages to users.

Initial reports raised concerns about a potential cyber attack as the cause of the outage. However, further information clarified that the issue stemmed from a fault with a line owned by a telecommunications provider. Deputy Minister for Research and Innovation, Nikodimos Damianou, confirmed that the problems arose specifically due to a cable cut.

Yiorgos Komodromos, the Deputy Director General of the Deputy Ministry, elaborated on the issue, stating that technical crews are currently on-site and working to restore connectivity. He expressed optimism that the fault would be resolved shortly, allowing normal operations to resume.

The Deputy Ministry for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy has assured the public that this incident does not involve any cyber security threats or malicious activities. In a statement, they outlined that the current malfunction is purely technical, resulting from the cable cut by the service provider.

While ministry official websites remain accessible to citizens, they are not reachable from government service computers, further compounding the inconvenience for employees reliant on these resources. The Deputy Ministry has expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding and patience during this technical disruption, indicating that teams are working intensively to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
