The protests were sparked by Israel’s recent interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. Reports indicate that all civilians aboard the more than 40 vessels in the fleet were arrested, deepening the sense of urgency among supporters of the Palestinian cause. Two of the vessels are currently docked at Larnaca port, although details about their identities remain unclear.
