participatory budget — Etek, Cyprus’ scientific and technical chamber, is launching its participatory budget for the fifth consecutive year, setting aside €100,000 for projects proposed by its members in the 2025 budget.

Each project proposal can receive funding of up to €20,000, provided it aligns with the chamber’s remit and demonstrates an outward-looking approach that results in tangible outcomes and social value. However, proposals that focus solely on research will not be eligible for funding.

In instances where the number of positively evaluated submissions exceeds the available budget, Etek will invite its members to prioritise and vote on the proposals through the chamber’s website. This democratic approach ensures that the most valued projects receive the necessary support.

A five-member evaluation committee will make the final decisions on funding, ensuring that the selected projects align with Etek’s goals and can be successfully completed. The funding aims to not only support innovative ideas but also to foster a sense of community among members by involving them in the decision-making process.

The deadline for submitting applications is 12.00 pm on Monday, October 13, 2025. Members interested in proposing projects can find full details on the chamber’s website, encouraging active participation and collaboration within the scientific and technical community.
