In a significant crackdown on illegal employment, 47 individuals were arrested across Cyprus during a coordinated operation targeting catering establishments. The operation, which took place on Friday, involved collaboration between the aliens and immigration service and officers from the department of labour inspections.

The operation highlights the ongoing issues surrounding illegal employment practices in the country. In an effort to combat undeclared work, officials from the labour inspection department imposed hefty administrative fines totaling €195,000 on the employers of the arrested individuals.
