The incident occurred yesterday afternoon when local authorities received reports around 4pm of a woman causing a disturbance on General Timaya Street. Upon arrival, officers from the Limassol CID found her in a state of panic, requiring physical restraint to ensure her safety.
During the process of immobilisation, the woman fell to the ground and exhibited alarming symptoms, including convulsions and foaming at the mouth. Witnesses noted a strong smell of alcohol emanating from her. An ambulance was called to the scene, and the woman was transported to Limassol General Hospital.
At the hospital, she was admitted to the intensive care unit where she is currently intubated and sedated. Medical staff have reported that her condition is stable but serious. Toxicology tests revealed not only fentanyl but also other opioids, suggesting she had consumed a mix of substances, including alcohol and fentanyl-containing preparations.
In addition to her critical condition from substance use, the woman sustained fractures to her right ribs during the incident. Police have confirmed that she arrived in Cyprus from Russia on 2 June and was scheduled to leave in early July.
