Dual-use drone: Advanced Technology Behind the AXS-S1 Platform

Aerix Systems is at the helm of developing the AXS-S1 platform, a sophisticated drone and interceptor solution, while SignalGeneriX contributes its SGX EDGE-AI technology, which serves as the platform’s core processing and artificial intelligence system.

A standout feature of this system is its dual pneumatic net launchers that operate using CO2. Designed to autonomously detect, classify, track, and intercept hostile unmanned aircraft, the AXS-S1 platform is equipped to process data onboard, minimising reliance on external infrastructure. The SGX EDGE-AI computer, powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, boasts an impressive processing capability of 100 trillion mathematical operations per second, allowing it to handle three image streams concurrently.

Precision Targeting Capabilities

The integrated sensor suite includes a 110-degree FHD wide-angle electro-optical camera, a 10-degree 4K electro-optical camera, and a 45-degree 1MPx thermal camera. This triple camera array provides the ability to acquire and track targets accurately, even in low-visibility conditions such as night, smoke, or dust.

The AXS-S1 SPIDER-AI platform features patented omnidirectional propulsion technology, enabling it to maintain control and stability during high-speed maneuvers or in challenging weather conditions. With speeds reaching up to 200 kilometres per hour and operational capabilities in winds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, the drone can perform rapid braking within 2.5 seconds and execute turns with a one-metre radius.

Neutralising Threats with Innovative Design

To neutralise potential threats, the AXS-S1 carries two pneumatic net launchers, each capable of deploying a capture net that spans at least 12 square metres. This design allows for two engagements per mission, with the launchers being reloaded in the field. Once a target is confirmed, the artificial intelligence system automatically activates the launchers, streamlining the interception process.

This platform can operate solo or as part of a coordinated swarm and is adaptable for deployment from air, land, or sea. With a rapid preparation time of just one minute, it is well-suited for urgent response scenarios.

Diverse Applications for Security

The potential applications for the AXS-S1 are extensive. Its capabilities make it ideal for protecting airports, aviation facilities, stadiums, and large event venues. Additionally, it offers security for critical infrastructure, military installations, borders, and high-security areas.

Special emphasis is placed on safeguarding runways, energy and communications facilities, military bases, and government sites. The versatility of this drone interceptor positions it as a valuable asset in modern security operations.
