  • limassol high-rise — The tragic fall of a cleaner from a high-rise building in Limassol has been captured on CCTV, revealing the final moments of 61-year-old Diana Tsilidou.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Tsilidou, originally from Georgia, plunged approximately 15 metres into the underground car park of a newly constructed office building in the Agios Ioannis area.

Surveillance footage shows Tsilidou stepping onto an external window ledge to clean the glass panes, having bypassed a 60-centimetre glass safety barrier. Witnesses reported seeing her precariously balanced, holding onto an aluminium window frame with one hand while cleaning with the other, shortly before she lost her footing and fell.

Authorities have launched a joint investigation involving the police and the Limassol District Department of Labour Inspection. This inquiry aims to determine whether appropriate workplace health and safety measures were in place during the incident.

It has been established that the offices on the fourth floor were not yet operational. The company set to occupy the space had outsourced its cleaning duties to the external agency that employed Tsilidou.

Detectives are actively collecting statements from eyewitnesses and local residents. Many observed Tsilidou working on the outer ledge before her tragic fall, raising questions about safety protocols. Labour inspectors are scrutinising whether the cleaning agency or property management provided sufficient safety equipment and training for workers operating at heights.
