President Nikos Christodoulides arrived in New Delhi on Thursday evening, marking the conclusion of the second day of his state visit to India. He was greeted at the airport by Indian Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, stepping off the Cyprus Airways jet wearing a traditional Nehru jacket.

The Nehru jacket, a sleeveless garment popularised by the late Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, was navy blue for this occasion. This choice of attire reflects a cultural homage during his visit.

Upon his arrival, President Christodoulides inspected a contingent of Indian armed forces, showcasing the ceremonial respect that accompanies such high-level visits. Following the formalities, he was escorted to his accommodation in the city, which will serve as the base for him and the Cypriot delegation.

The delegation includes Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos and Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades, among others. Their discussions in New Delhi are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral relations, trade, and regional security issues.

As the visit continues, both nations look forward to strengthening ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration in various sectors, further solidifying the historical and diplomatic connections between Cyprus and India.
