The upcoming European conference on rare diseases in Cyprus is set to take place on June 16 and 17, 2026, under the focus of advancing innovative treatments. The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING), in collaboration with the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, will host this significant event.
Titled “Advancement of Treatments for Rare Diseases”, this conference aims to bring together over 40 distinguished speakers and approximately 250 participants from various sectors, including healthcare, research, the pharmaceutical industry, and patient organisations. This impressive turnout is expected to foster collaboration and innovation in the realm of rare diseases.
As part of the broader framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the conference highlights the nation’s role in shaping European health policy dialogue. The organisers noted that the depth of topics covered will position this gathering as a pivotal scientific event for professionals involved in research, clinical practice, policymaking, and innovation management.
Notable participants will include senior officials, representatives from the European Commission, and experts from the European Medicines Agency, as well as members of European Reference Networks and leading academics. This underscores Cyprus’ emerging status as a reliable hub for scientific dialogue and cooperation in the field of rare diseases.
The conference is designed to be a robust platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences, and discussing best practices. It aims to strengthen the connections between research, clinical applications, regulatory frameworks, and health policy, thereby enhancing patient access to modern therapies.
